Git and GitHub

Git keeps a history of your work. Each time you reach a good point you make a commit: a saved snapshot with a short message about what changed. You can always go back.

GitHub is a website that stores Git projects (repositories) online, so you can share them, work with others and show employers what you have built.

git status # what has changed?
git add app.py # choose what to save
git commit -m "Add unit converter"
git push # send it to GitHub

Check yourself

1. What is a commit?

2. What is GitHub?

3. Which command shows what has changed since your last commit?

4. Why write a clear commit message?
